It’s easier to see what’s flying.
As you know, Instagram is chasing the popularity of Tiktok in the field of short video. In the latest update to Reels, Instagram is adding a few more features that have been copied from Tiktok itself. And makes it easy to see what flies in the reels area.
The new features this time are:
New section with popular content: Instagram got a new hub that shows which songs and which hashtags are most popular at the moment.
The roller editor gets a faceliftInstagram is taking the opportunity to improve its entire editing tool, making it easier to work with video, audio, stickers, and text from the same place in Reels.
More ideas on how the content is performingInstagram is adding more insights into how Reels content is performing. More specifically, it’s about two new data points: total watch time and average watch time for individual reels.
Notifications about new followers: Instagram starts telling you when new followers stream from Reels content. So it will be possible to constantly monitor how well the reels are turning.
Gifts function is expanded: Last but not least, Instagram is expanding the gifting feature, where users can give money to their favorite creators. It will now be possible to see which viewers have given a gift in certain reels and also to thank each donor individually.
In the coming weeks, Gifts will be rolled out in more countries “among others” Australia, Canada, France, New Zealand and Great Britain. It’s not clear if Sweden is on the list this time around, but looking at other countries it probably won’t be the case.
