In northern Cambodia, villagers near the Mekong River have captured what scientists say is the largest freshwater fish ever discovered.
It is a huge stingray weighing about 300 kg and it took twelve people to transport the fish to the river bank. The stingray was named “Borami” and now holds the world record as the largest freshwater fish found in the world from a heavy catfish weighing 293 kg found in northern Thailand in 2005.
After marking the Boramy with an electronic tracker, which gives researchers the opportunity to observe how the fish is moving, the stingrays were released into the Mekong River again. Above you can check the feature about the giant fish.
