Sweden lost in curling to Great Britain

Beijing. After just a day on Chinese soil, Almeida de Val and Oscar Erickson entered into a mixed pair.

The real nightmare tour brought the Swedish couple against their favorite Great Britain.

“I missed all my three stones and made it really hard for Almeida,” says Erickson as he criticizes himself.

The Olympics are underway for the Swedish part. He started curling and made his mixed doubles debut with Almeida de Vale and Oscar Ericsson.

There was a loss in the first match against favorites Great Britain after, to say the least, the chaotic preparations.

Because it was a great drama before Almeida de Val and Oscar Erickson got the green light to go to the Olympics. The result of the Swedish captain’s mixed doubles test was positive.

The time difference is seven hours

The captain was not allowed to go, but after several negative test results from the Swedish couple, they finally had a chance.

But de Val and Ericsson only arrived in Beijing on Tuesday, and played their first game of the tournament on Wednesday.

– We would not have been allowed to train more even if we had come earlier, but instead we were allowed to rest in the village, says de Val.

With a seven-hour time difference in the body and just over a day in place, the strongest possible opposition awaits in the first match.

World champion Great Britain is credited with world maker Bruce Mowat on the team as a great gold candidate.

Tough opening match against the defending champion. Ericsson says it’s always a little difficult in the first game in a tournament, especially when we’ve played so hard on just one day.

I lost all three stones.

And in the seventh round, poor preparation took its toll.

After six of the eight rounds it was 5-5, but then most things went wrong for the Swedish pair. Great Britain can go 8-5 and win the game 9-5.

– It was my three pebbles that put the pebbles into the machine. We had a good location with the last stone on par. But I missed all three stones and made it really difficult for Almeida to try to save the round, says Erickson, who wasn’t too heartbroken after that:

– We knew it was going to be tough. We hope to learn from this and improve during the tournament.

Mixed doubles curling made their Olympic debut four years ago, but this was the first time a Swedish pair had competed at the Olympics.
