Turkish footballing superstar Arda Turan’s move to Arsenal is looking more and more certain as he was seen snooping around London properties.
Turan was seen looking for houses in Chelsea, fuelling rumours that he may be looking at a move to Chelsea as well as Arsenal.
The Barcelona winger has been linked with a move away from the Nou Camp, having struggled to nail down a spot in their first XI. The Turkish international joined the Catalan giants from La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2015 for a huge €41 million, but has found consistent game time hard to come by.
Arsenal’s Héctor Bellerín has been made the top priority in the summer transfer window, and according to a report from Mundo Deportivo, the club will go after the Spaniard and are prepared to give up one of their midfield players, Arda Turan, in an attempt to lower Bellerín’s transfer fee.
According to the report, Arsenal have set Bellerín’s price tag at €40 million, but Barça hope to convince the Gunners to sell the player for a €25 million fee plus a permanent transfer of Arda Turan to the London club.
Turan is hard-working player, but he is not afraid to challenge defenders one-on-one either. With his low centre of gravity and tricky feet, his attacking threat is immense. This is reflected in his 14 goals and six assists for Barcelona this season.
The players agent, Ahmet Bulut, stated that there has been no talks between himself and Arsenal: “There is currently no offer, there is nothing to speak of right now,” Bulut was quoted as saying Eren Sarigul of Turkish-Football & ESPN FC.
“I have not been contacted by Arsenal. As I said before, he is happy at Barcelona and has three years left on his contract.”
At the age of 30, he may be retained as a senior player to guide the club’s youngsters into the next era. Conversely, Barca may want to sell him for what they can and reinvest the funds.
DMZ thinks Turan has never truly settled at Barcelona and a move to Chelsea or Arsenal would be good for his career. He would join the long list of London-based footballers who have chosen London property as their primary asset, including Mezut Ozil‘s £10million mansion, John Terry’s £22million West London home or Thierry Henry and his 25,000 ft fish tank!
Both Chelsea and Arsenal have been on the lookout for a creative midfielder. In light of Oscar’s departure to China and Alexis Sanchez’s potential move away from the Gunners squad this summer, Turan could be the perfect addition for both London clubs.
DMZ eagerly await the Turkish superstar’s arrival in the Capital – we just hope he doesn’t plan on an ‘Henry-style’ mega-aquarium for his new London pad!
