A Swiss-style chalet with
frontage to the River Thames near Hampton
features a party room with a heated indoor beach, amongst other unusual
Japanese-styled interior also offers a lush Japanese water garden with Koi Carp
crossed by a bridge made of Samurai swords, a kitchen with five fridges,
bespoke sliding glass double doors encrusted with Swarovski crystals, Japanese
style pod beds that include a body massage system and gold parquet flooring
The four bedroom grade II listed, 5,000 sq ft chalet which is believed to have been imported from Switzerland around 1880 is being sold by Savills on the instructions of LPA Receivers. The agent’s particulars, however, suggest that not all of the property may have planning consent for residential use.
Normally, it might be
expected that such a unique house in a prime riverside location on offer for
what seems a reasonable £2.85m would be snapped up. However, the property remains
unsold after having been on sale for over a year. So, while there is something
to be said for making a house stand out from the crowd in order to sell it, it
may be the case that the unusual features of this house make it stand out that
bit too much.
